Oval & Wick · Customer Information
Terms & Conditions
Clear information about shopping with us, from placing an order to delivery, returns and looking after your home fragrance products.
These Terms & Conditions explain the basis on which you use the Oval & Wick online shop and buy products from us. Please read them before placing an order. By using the website, you agree to follow the terms that apply to your use. When you place an order, additional information shown at checkout and the details in your order confirmation also form part of the information relevant to your purchase. These terms take effect immediately upon publication.
01 About These Terms
The website is operated by WM OVAL LIMITED, company registration number 14890223, trading as Oval & Wick.
In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to WM OVAL LIMITED. “You” and “your” refer to anyone browsing our website or purchasing products from our online shop.
Our online shop offers home fragrance products, including soy wax candles, wax melts, room and linen sprays, and reed diffusers. Products are offered for delivery within the United Kingdom, subject to the delivery options shown at checkout.
02 Using Our Website
You agree to use the website lawfully and in a way that does not interfere with its operation or prevent other customers from using it.
You must not:
- Use the website for fraudulent, unlawful or misleading purposes.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the website, its systems or another person’s account.
- Introduce malicious code or interfere with website security.
- Copy, reproduce or commercially exploit website content without permission, except where permitted by law.
- Submit information that you know to be false or misleading when placing an order.
We may temporarily restrict access where reasonably necessary to maintain security, carry out maintenance or address misuse. We will take reasonable steps to minimise disruption where practical.
03 Products and Descriptions
We aim to present our products as clearly and accurately as possible. Product pages may include descriptions, dimensions, quantities, fragrance notes, materials, usage information and photographs.
Colours and appearance may vary slightly depending on screen settings, lighting, display technology and normal variations in materials or production. Fragrance perception can also vary from person to person and may be affected by room size, ventilation and individual preference.
Any measurements, burn times, fragrance descriptions or usage estimates are provided as a guide unless expressly stated otherwise. Actual results can vary according to the product, environment and manner of use.
We may correct a genuine product information error or update a listing when necessary. If a significant change affects an order you have already placed, we will contact you where appropriate to discuss the available options.
04 Prices and Payment
All prices are displayed in pounds sterling (£). The price applicable to your purchase is the price shown at checkout when you place your order, subject to any clearly stated delivery charges or other applicable amounts.
Standard delivery within the United Kingdom is free. Any optional charges, if applicable to a particular service, will be shown before you complete your purchase.
Payment must be completed using one of the payment methods available at checkout. You confirm that you are authorised to use the payment method selected.
If a clear pricing or listing error is identified before an order is accepted, we may contact you to confirm the correct information. If we cannot agree on the correct price or supply arrangements, we may cancel the affected order and return any payment received for it.
We do not promise that every payment attempt will be authorised. If a payment is declined, please check your payment details or contact your payment provider before trying again.
05 Orders and Acceptance
Adding a product to your basket does not reserve stock or guarantee that it will remain available. Please review your basket, delivery details and order total before confirming your purchase.
After checkout, you will normally receive an order confirmation by email. This confirms that we have received your order. Acceptance of the order and the point at which a contract is formed will be determined by the checkout information, confirmation communications and applicable law.
We may be unable to fulfil an order because an item is unavailable, delivery cannot be arranged, payment has not been authorised or an important listing error has occurred. If we cannot fulfil an order after payment has been taken, we will notify you and arrange a refund of amounts due.
Please contact us promptly if you notice an error in your order confirmation. We will try to make changes where possible, but changes cannot be guaranteed after processing or dispatch has begun.
06 Delivery
We currently deliver to addresses within the United Kingdom only. Standard UK delivery is free on all orders.
Orders are normally processed within 1–2 business days. Following dispatch, standard delivery usually takes a further 2–5 business days. The estimated total time from order acceptance to delivery is approximately 3–7 business days.
Business days are Monday to Friday, excluding UK public holidays. These delivery periods are estimates and may be affected by carrier operations, severe weather, peak periods or other circumstances outside our reasonable control.
You are responsible for providing accurate delivery details. If you notice an error, contact us as soon as possible and, ideally, within 12 hours of placing your order. We will try to help before dispatch, but changes cannot be guaranteed once the parcel has entered the carrier’s network.
If a parcel is delayed, appears lost or cannot be delivered, contact us so we can review the available tracking information and discuss the next steps.
Further details are available in our Shipping Policy.
07 Cancellations and Returns
If you need to cancel an order before dispatch, contact us as soon as possible. We will try to stop the order, but cancellation cannot be guaranteed after packing or dispatch.
For most goods purchased online in the UK, you generally have 14 days from the day after receiving the goods to notify the seller that you wish to cancel. After giving notice, you normally have a further 14 days to return the goods. Certain legal exceptions apply.
Goods may be inspected as you would reasonably inspect them in a shop. If handling goes beyond what is necessary to establish their nature, characteristics and functioning, a deduction for diminished value may be permitted by law.
We provide free return or exchange shipping for the first return or exchange request per order when arranged or approved through our team. Postage for later requests will be assessed individually and confirmed before the return is sent.
Faulty, damaged, incorrect or misdescribed goods will be handled in accordance with applicable consumer law. Nothing in these terms removes any statutory cancellation right or other remedy available to you.
Please read our Return and Exchange Policy for the full procedure, eligibility details and refund arrangements.
08 Refunds and Exchanges
Approved refunds are normally submitted to the original payment method within 5 business days after the relevant checks are complete, unless a different statutory deadline applies.
For statutory cancellation of delivered goods, refunds are generally due within 14 days after we receive the returned goods or you provide evidence that they have been sent back, whichever happens first, subject to the circumstances and applicable law.
After a refund is submitted, your payment provider or bank may need a further 3–10 business days to display the funds. Actual timing depends on the payment method and financial institution.
Exchanges depend on product availability. Where a replacement is available, we will normally arrange dispatch within 2 business days after the return is received and approved. If the requested item is unavailable, we will discuss an alternative or refund where appropriate.
These processing estimates do not extend or replace a shorter deadline required by law.
09 Product Care and Safety
Home fragrance products should be used according to the instructions and safety information supplied with the item and on its packaging. Please read the relevant guidance before use.
- Candles: keep away from flammable materials, children and pets. Never leave a burning candle unattended. Place it on a stable, heat-resistant surface and follow the product’s burning and trimming instructions.
- Wax melts: use only with a suitable warmer and follow the warmer manufacturer’s instructions. Do not add water to melted wax unless the product instructions specifically permit it.
- Room and linen sprays: follow the label instructions, avoid contact with eyes and do not apply to skin, food or surfaces unless the product is expressly intended for that use.
- Reed diffusers: keep the liquid away from children, pets, food and delicate or polished surfaces. Avoid direct contact with the liquid and clean any spill according to the product instructions.
Check the product label for ingredient information and any relevant warnings before use. If you have a known sensitivity to a fragrance ingredient, review the available product information and seek suitable professional advice if needed.
We cannot guarantee that every fragrance will suit every individual’s preferences or sensitivities. Follow all product-specific precautions and discontinue use if the product causes an unexpected problem.
10 Website Content and Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise stated, website text, photographs, product descriptions, graphics, branding and page layouts are owned by us or used with permission.
You may browse the website and use its content for personal, non-commercial shopping purposes. You must not reproduce, republish, distribute or commercially use our content without permission, except where the law allows it.
Product names, images and descriptions are provided to help you make an informed purchasing decision. They do not grant you ownership of our intellectual property or any right to use our branding.
If you believe material on our website infringes your rights, please contact us with sufficient details for us to review the matter.
11 Liability and Consumer Rights
We take reasonable care in operating our online shop, describing products, processing orders and arranging delivery. However, the website and its general information may occasionally contain errors, interruptions or outdated information.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for losses that could not reasonably have been anticipated when the relevant contract was formed, or for losses caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Where you purchase as a consumer, we do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Nothing in these terms removes your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or other applicable consumer protection legislation. Goods must meet the standards required by law, including requirements relating to satisfactory quality, fitness for purpose where applicable and conformity with their description.
If a product is faulty or an order does not meet the applicable legal requirements, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement, price reduction, refund or another remedy, depending on the circumstances.
12 Events Outside Our Control
Sometimes events outside our reasonable control may affect our ability to process an order or arrange delivery. Examples include severe weather, transport disruption, interruptions to essential services, carrier network issues and other unexpected events.
Where such an event causes a significant delay, we will take reasonable steps to keep affected customers informed and explain the available options.
If an order cannot be fulfilled, we will discuss an appropriate solution, including a refund where required. This section does not remove any right or remedy that the law provides.
13 Complaints and Contact
If something about your order or shopping experience has not gone as expected, please contact us first. We will review the information you provide and try to resolve the matter fairly.
Please include your order number, a clear explanation of the issue and any relevant photographs or supporting details. We aim to acknowledge customer enquiries within 2 business days and normally provide an update within 5 business days after receiving the information needed to investigate.
More complicated enquiries may take longer. If that happens, we will explain what is being checked and provide an update where reasonably possible.
14 Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms when our products, website arrangements or legal obligations change. The current version will be published on this page and will take effect immediately upon publication unless a different effective date is expressly stated.
Changes will not retrospectively remove rights already acquired under an existing order. The terms applicable to a particular purchase will be considered alongside the order confirmation and any legal requirements.
Please review this page occasionally if you continue to use the website.
15 Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws applicable in England and Wales, subject to any mandatory consumer protection rules that apply to you.
If you are a consumer living in another part of the United Kingdom, mandatory rights and rules applicable in your place of residence will continue to apply where required by law.
Nothing in this section prevents you from relying on applicable statutory rights or bringing a claim before a court that has jurisdiction under the relevant rules.
